It's such an exciting time to be covering the minor leagues for the River Carp. Not only is it a very full-time position that is not without solid financial kickback, but this pipeline is absolutely loaded! The Carp owners, right from the start, decided the way for an expansion to not die in the wilderness was to draft prospects. All the prospects. And one of the most exhilarating choices was young Josuar Gonzalez.

Signed as an international free agent at the ripe old age of 17 by the San Francisco Giants, Gonzalez mostly thrashed the Dominican Summer League in 2025 (.859 OPS in 52 games), and then the Arizona Complex League earlier this year (.966 OPS in 30 games). Excitedly and deservedly, this granted a bump to Low-A earlier this week. And let me tell you, Carp Nation, management is a-buzz with what this young'en is cookin' up.

Early returns are rewarding management's confidence in the young switch hitter. Through his first four games in Low-A San Jose, Gonzalez is sporting a nifty 1.171 OPS. Here's looking at you, kid.

Now up to #15 on MLB's Top 100, Gonzalez projects as a potential five-tooler from the middle infield. Most any other year, he likely gets all kinds of hype from the international market, but the 2025 cycle was consumed by Roki Sasaki and only Roki Sasaki. Somehow, Gonzalez managed to be under the radar as the most accomplished hitter in the whole 2025 class.
